Hello.

I have compaq 1200xl laptop equipped with Trident CyberBlade i7 video chip. I've been using it for more than a year with excellent results, but there is one small thing I still have problems with.

The machine has external monitor connection. When I tried to connect the external monitor to it, I get a mirror of my main LCD screen. But from two months that I've ran Windows on this laptop, I know the chipset is capable of dual head configuration. And from the 'trident' man page states that xfree driver also supports dual head configuration (although I'm not sure whether it implies that you must have two separate cards for it).

I have tried to run `XFree86 -configure` with external monitor connected, however the only difference is that it picks up external monitor in 'Monitor' section of XF86Config instead of my LCD panel. When I try that configuration I still get the mirror image though.

I looked on the internet, through the manpage, and in the XF86Config commented out option, but I still can't find any clues on how to setup the dual head mode.

Is it possible to have two separate screens (one for LCD, one for external monitor) with possibly different different resolutions while using my video card (Trident Cyberblade 7i)?

Thank you in advance for any pointers.

Art.
