I grabbed your patch and it applied cleanly to current XFree86 CVS, but
broke video output on the M6 and RV200 chips (Radeon Mobility and Radeon 
7500).  The patch eliminates an 8-pixel horizontal offset needed to align 
the overlay with the frame buffer.

I added suitable code which checks for the M6 and Rv200, and also removed
the part of the patch which broke video on 15 bit and pseudo color visuals.

A single binary now works on all of my radeon chips (7500, M6, 8500).  It
needs testing on earlier chips (SDR, DDR radeons, 7000, 7200).

If anyone is interested, please download the patch and apply it to current 
CVS before Kevin lands a giant merge from ATI.
