This patch (against today's XFree86 CVS) fixes the Gnome logout display
problem, and the buttons in Mozilla. It changes the behavior of the
scrollbar thumb problem - now instead of extra black lines appearing on
the edges of the scrollbar thumbs, we just get some incomplete white
lines. However, it is a great improvement. Definitely a step in the
right direction.

I have placed images of the new scrollbar thumb at
http://www.mclure.org/xfreeproblem for your perusal. Hope this helps.
