Hello

I'm having trouble running X on an embedded computer that uses an Intel 
815 graphics chip.  I've tried:
- using a plain Red Hat 7.2 install
- upgrading the X Server in the 7.2 install to 4.2.0
- doing a clean RedHat 7.3 install
(all of the above were using the stock kernel from the respective distro)

All of the above have the same problem - When I startx, both GNOME and 
KDE lock the machine up solid during their loading procedure when they 
get to the "Loading Window Manager" step.

The odd thing is that I've had X running on the same make / model of 
embedded computer before (they're Ampros - Pentium 850), but these two 
won't cooperate.  (Unfortunately, I can't absolutely guarantee that this 
hardware is not different than the previous machines... )I've tried 
countless combinations of color depths and 
resoltuions.  I've also tried disabling all of the hardware 
acceleration / DRI, etc., but still no luck.

I've compared the log file to that of a working "standard" PC with an 
i815.  The one difference that stuck out was a "V_BIOS checksum error" on 
the two machines that won't work.  This seems like a showstopper to 
me...  what does X compare the calculated checksum to determine if it is 
correct or not?

I've attached the XFree86.0.log file an my XF86Config-4 file.  If anyone 
has any suugestions, I'd greatly appreciate them.  If anyone would like 
more information, please let me know.
