The answer to this problem was in my /var/log/messages: <host> kernel: nvidia: Can't find an IRQ for your NVIDIA card! <host> kernel: nvidia: Please check your BIOS settings. <host> kernel: nvidia: [Plug & Play OS ] should be set to NO <host> kernel: nvidia: [Assign IRQ to VGA] should be set to YES <host> kernel: nvidia: loading NVIDIA NVdriver Kernel Module
I had changed the BIOS setting [Assign IRQ to VGA] to NO during my previous Trident card problems. ----Original Message Follows---- From: Paul Pikowsky <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Xpert](EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVdriver kernel module! I have a GForce MX200 card running dual monitors with a Trident 9680 card that I have posted here about also. I compiled the tarred driver packages with no problems, but when I try to start a windows session, I'm finding that the NVdriver is being loaded, but can't be initialized. This is the error message I get in my XFree86.0.log: "(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVdriver kernel module!" The README that came with the nVidia download does not address my particular situation. Could it be that the dual monitors are causing the problem? How can I start looking for clues as to what the problem is? Does anybody have any idea what is going on?
