Hi,

Any hints on getting xvideo happening *reliably* on my Toshi Sat 1800 with
CyberBlade/XP[1,2] video, running Xfree86 4.2.0?

AFAICT:

* xvideo doesn't work at all for the trident.o from
www.xfree86.org/~alanh/ (but I get 2-d acceleration :-) - the overlay
area is filled with what might be a grossly torn video image.

* xvideo "mostly works" with the trident.o in 4.2.0 (Debian pre-release),
but this driver doesn't have any acceleration.

The two obvious problems I see with trident.o from 4.2.0 are:

1) annoying lines outside the xvideo window, and level with the top and
bottom of the overlay area, when playing double-size with gtv (OK, it's
not really worth complaining about).

2) machine crashes[3] (no keyboard, no network, nothing) - occasionally
happens randomly but I can also reliably induce this[4]

Am I likely to see any improvement if I upgrade to 4.2.1?

What other information can I gather to assist with diagnosing and
addressing these problems?

Thanks,
Neale.

[3] The display is garbled too - just now it was thin vertical lines of
different shades of blue, but mostly it's blocks (squares) of different
colours.

[4] Using gtv from Debian woody, the machine will crash if I:
- load a mpeg and select double-size
- play the video to the end
- select "stop", video is reset to start
- toggle from double-size to standard and back to double-size
- attempt to start playing again
- machine is crashed
It's not at all obvious to me where the fault lies here - any suggestions?
