Since my last few attempts have locked my box up, I'm concerned with
further testing that might provide the same results. Any idea why this
might be a solution? I'm thinking of putting the card in another box
that I'm not concerned with rather that further taxing my primary system.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
