As far as i read discussion here and on dri-devel,
there was a problem with similar effect,
that raised from an accidentally changed structure in libXAA.
The problem raised is in the scope of the last four weeks
and was fixed by moving the new members to the structures end
so that compatibility is established again some one week ago.

I think there were some press releases that announced the "Radeon 2"
which stands for the prducts "Radeon 8500/8500LE/8500AIW/8500DV"
(all of this should be R200 QL chips) and for the "FireGL 8700/8800"
(should be chipset ID R200 QH).
Since you have a "powered by ATI" board, your board should be able
to run with the DRI r200 snapshot drivers - "Weather channel funded".
