I recently got a Mainboard (ECS K7SOM with Duron 1200 MHz) with on-board graphics (SiS740) that has ruther low image quality. So i decided to use a Matrox Mystique (PCI, driver mga1064sg) that i installed as primary graphics adaptor. The Problem now is that the Machine completely hangs, maybe the kernel panics, because even remote access to the machine hangs immediately, but i don't have any graphics output at this point cause the screen already blanked (means black screen). I also tried to start without a display manager via startx and only TWM, but result is absolutely the same.
I guess its related to a conflict between mga-card and on-board sis graphics (and unfortunately my current bios doesn't provide turning it off), but i have no idea where to catch it. Does anyone know about this? Otherwise i need to investigate any further. My config: Linux 2.4.18 (now agpart + dri disabled but this doesn't change anything) XFree86 4.2.0 BusID "PCI:0:x:0" for mga where is one of 13,11,9 BudID "PCI:1:0:0" for the SiS chip, so this is agp Thx for your comments. andre PS: if needed i can send my pci data (which says its a 1064sg) and/or XF86Config+logs later -- +++ GMX - Mail, Messaging & more http://www.gmx.net +++ NEU: Mit GMX ins Internet.
