Well, it's not hard. I am not even sure I did anything special really -
except of course getting xrdp+X11rdp to work :)

You install VirtualGL easily by following procedures at virtualgl.org -
it installed under /opt/VirtualGL/ for me. Then you simply start your
app using vglrun:

/opt/VirtualGL/bin/vglrun firefox

You can start by running "glxinfo" vs "vglrun glxinfo" to verify that
you the latter actually gives you the real card info and not the Mesa
soft renderer. And oh, of course you need a GPU in the server :)

Then try this URL:

http://madebyevan.com/webgl-water/

If it works you will see a ball in a pool :). If it does not work you
see nothing, check console. You may have permission issues, if you do,
then try running it under sudo (or similar) and see if that helps.

Now, I am testing this by running the xfreerdp client from inside a
local VirtualBox with Ubuntu in it. I connect to the host machine (which
is my laptop, also running Ubuntu) so I have no networking involved.

Then I get very good performance - the webGL app feels more or less as
it does natively, and then I am still going through VirtualBox for the
client.

regards, Göran

PS. This also means multiple sessions share the GPU! I had two
simultaneous rdp sessions, two different users, and both got accelerated
webGL, although of course slower :)
