That's for sure!

On the way home from Calif., we were stuck in the Portland airport for over 6
hours. The airline's *fix* to the situation was to BUS us up to Seattle, then
fly us to Spokane. When even the BUS did not come on time, my DH went back to
the ticket counter, and they found 2 seats on a small craft that flew us to
Seattle instead.

So we didn't have to have a long bus ride, but when we got to Seattle, we had
another few hours to wait for the next flight. While waiting at the gate, I
found a Stitcher! We began talking and she showed me what she was working on
... a pretty floral piece from a Leisure Arts pamphlet. I then pulled out the
piece I was carrying ... it is the "Peaches" fruit label ... the freebie from
DMC. I had stitched it 2 years ago when my brother Paul was first diagnosed
with cancer. I had given it to my brother for his birthday in 1997. Upon my
brother's death, the piece came back to me ... I was taking it back home.

It was wonderful to have a respite from the grief of the day by talking with
another stitcher. It was an excellent way to start a conversation. And it
turns out that the stitcher lives in a neighboring town, so our paths may
cross again. In fact, I think that she may now look into joining a stitching
guild as the result of our conversation at the airport.

Stitchers really do have the greatest hearts!

Yours in Stitches,
