I believe the original logo is best. It looks really sharp. The crooked logos beneath aren't really close to the K/Ed/Ubuntu.
If it's too light (which I don't believe), I think the second one, just below the original is the way to go.
I know everyone wants to be creative, but a logo should be both distinctive, and clear. It shouldn't be too "heavy" on colours, and lines. The first one fits that role perfectly.
