Yes it seems to occur when you log off or power down. In particular last time it occured I logged off from the power button. Any Ideas
In xsession-errors I found three groups of warnings: Firstly is 3d related (possibly due to my 3DFX banshee which is having issues on ubuntu and will bug report it soon. Second bunch of errors is to do with Evolution (Evolution is running at startup on XFCE.ANy ideas how to stop it?). Third is some errors relating to sylpheed.
