Hi  Jozsef

I agree with most of what you say, with a few observations:

 * while we need to have a distinctive look, I don't want that to happen at the expense
of usability. So nothing like non-stretched panels or anything just to make us distinct from
Gnome. Artwork and usability are related but not the same, and while this is probably clear
to most I just want to prevent people reading 'independence' as a good reason to start proposing
different panel and menu layouts.

 * the logo stays as it is (mouse in circle). We may not use it in the splash as you suggest, but as long
as Xfce's logo is a mouse we also show it.

3) Login splash

I also noticed that  sometimes (always?) Xfce starts up faster without a splash. However for startup times > 10s
it makes sense to give feedback to the user. Anyway we'll have time to test this out with and without splash during Edgy.

6) gtk theme

Besides colour let's also take performance into account. One needs a slow machine to feel the difference between cairo and non-cairo themes, and there may be other factors which decide how snappy a theme is. Just something to keep in mind.
