OK, I'm persuaded as for the differences, I agree with most Josef says, though I think removing the splash screen would be a bit annoying as Xfce does not start up as fast with me (and even slower with a friend of mine). However, we could of course look for a faster one, at least something that's moving to show it is busy.
Also for the Gtk theme, please make it easy on the eye. I think that is more important than making it blue too ;) But I'm sure you'll manage :D
