Try nemo and / or Konqueror. With nemo, F3 splits window into two panes. Change the focus on the second pane to the destination folder. Highlight file(s) on the source pane. Right-click on highlighted files and see move-to and copy-to options. Alternatively, use the menus.
Konqueror has similar functionality. While it is a KDE app, out can be installed and used under Xubuntu. If you haven't learned keyboard tips for selecting, now's a good time to learn.
