THIS IS AN INK JET PRINTER

with ink jet printers I consider always two things:

1 is system independent: the nozzles are fix in the printer or integrated in the ink cartridge?

if you don't use your printer (rally) every day, the second solution is much better. with the first solution not later than after the next summer holiday you will have problems to clean your nozzles. The second solution is a bit more expensive (for the cartridges), but you will have much less trouble

2 has to do with the system: with an ink yet printer sooner or later you will have to clean and to align your nozzles. The utilities to do this? I used my dual-boot Windows for years only to clean and align my ink-jet printer.

regarding 1: HP uses the nozzles integrated in the cartridges. So do also others. Years ago Epson did not. I am sure also other manufactures apart HP build the nozzles into the cartridges, but I don't know them.

regarding 2: Since some time HP supports all the necessary utilities also for Ubuntu. Just install "hplip". As far as I know, Epson does not. I am sure also other manufactures apart HP deliver the necessary utilities for Ubuntu, but I don't know them.
