Xubuntu friends, greetings.

I've recently been trying to install Xubuntu on a Dell Optiplex 9020
(i5, 8GB, HDD), and I can get it up and running, but when I start moving
my old files over using deja-dup, programs stop launching and start
raising "failed to fork (Resource temporarily unavailable)" errors in
the GUI. Has anyone seen this?

I found one online forum where someone attributed this problem to
systemd, so I tried doing the same thing on MX Linux, and the same thing
happened.

I'd be grateful for any hints about what might be the issue. I'm
wondering whether the hardware might be faulty.

Let me know if there are particular data points that could help clarify
the problem—I know I have been less than rigorous in specifying it.

Thank you in advance!
