I've been having a sporadic issue with opening desktop folders ever since I
installed 20.04. I don't remember having this happen with 18.04, which I
was using up till the 20.04 release.

When I attempt to open a folder on the desktop, it takes a VERY long time
to open. Last time I timed it, it took 23 seconds. But once the folder is
open, opening subfolders, or even opening other desktop folders, is quick,
as expected.

Initially, I wondered if it was due to an issue with Thunar, so I loaded
Nemo (which I tend to prefer, anyway), but the problem persists.

What is strange is that as long as I have a folder open, the delay doesn't
occur when I attempt to open the same or another folder. If I close the
remaining folder and re-open it or another folder, immediately, no delay.
But if I wait for a couple minutes, the delay returns.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
