Hi, There are currently two discussions on XUL and rich UIs raging in the Java Lobby and on the Server Side started by the announcements of Royale - the upcoming beefed-up free-standing Micromedia Flash thingy that tries to reach beyond the multi-media tutti frutti animation market by breaking free from the browser and by throwing in Web Services support and other unfashionable data-centric goodies for the designer crowd.
If you want to join in or just watch from the side line stop @ http://www.theserverside.com/home/thread.jsp?thread_id=21276 or @ http://www.javalobby.org/thread.jsp?forum=61&thread=8787 Alexander Jerusalem also wrote up a story titled "Architectural Patterns in the Face of Client-Side Uncertainty" in his blog to accompany his Java Lobby posts online @ http://www.freeroller.net/page/ajeru/20030902 that outlines why XUL (XML UIs) offers the best of both worlds, that is, the best of classic desktop apps a la Swing and the best of classic web apps a la HTML and, thus, XUL is the future. Last but not least Adam Bosworth - CTO of BEA and ex-Microsoft Internet Exploder dev lead - outlines his "vision" about the next-gen Web Services browser in his blog with the creative title "Adam Bosworth's Weblog" @ http://www.adambosworth.net If you want to share your thoughts you're also more than welcome to post your comments here on xul-talk for further discussion. - Gerald ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ xul-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xul-talk
