I tried looking for a "dev" list for XUL, but it seems this is the only one XUL list I can post my question to. Somebody came to me with a concept of a front-end showing a user a 3-D view of data within a given organization. In its current stage, the idea is that a user would use a browser (or XUL app) and be presented with a picture that would mimic the "locations" of data. "Locations" still has to be defined, but for now they can be thought of as containers of data stores. Use case wise, the user would be able to go into that picture (I don't know how much 3-D stuff should go in, but for now let's think wide) and click on the different locations/data stores. Those stores would then open up and let users click on individual sub-folders and/or files. In a first iteration, only metadata would be returned to the user. The location could be either physical or virtual, the idea being that paths to individual data sets could be generated dynamically into different views (e.g. if data set X is in Mr X's office or in department X, both views could be displayed). I was thinking of using Python and/or XUL and/or SVG to create the app. Anybody on this list has pointers for me?
Thanx!
