Hello Ian,

The goal of the XUL alliance for now is *not* to
create a new spec. If you care to check out the
sourceforge project blurb, it states:

The XUL (XML User Interface Language) project
provides free test suites to help ensure
interoperability between different XUL motors/browsers
and free, open-source show-case examples (aka blue
prints) to demo the power of XML for creating UIs.

Now I admit there are no free test suites for now
but there are plenty of open-source showcase examples.
May I highlight the Counter sample showcase online @
http://xul.sourceforge.net/counter.html

You can also download the XUL Challenge 2004 package
that includes samples for more than 15+ XML UI
language formats. See

> than, say, the laughable "XUL alliance".

First, let's be clear. As I already posted in the
Mozillazine article I welcome the new WHAT WG
initiative. The RICHIE initiative is not better than
the WHAT WG it's just different. The RICHIE initiative
is - suprise, suprise - about creating a RICH Internet
for Everyone. The core difference is that the RICHIE
initiative is somewhat more ambitious as it tries to
reach beyond HTML and web browsers (e.g. rich clients,
rich browsers, rich portals).

Finally, allow me to stress that I'm a volunteer and
I do not get paid for working on a rich internet for
everyone. In contrast, you are a full-time Opera
employee and you get paid to further Opera's
commercial intersts. Can you see the difference?

Anyway, please leave out the insults in future
postings and try to use a more professional style if
you want to critique the XUL Alliance initiative. Also
note that in contrast to you I haven't banned you from
the mailinglist.

  Peace.

  - Gerald
