I've just now subscribed to this list because I started using XUpdate 
(and Lexus). Very useful stuff!! Great work.

I found something I'd like to get clarified:

The DTD and WD imply that commands such as "xupdate:append" only support
"xupdate:element, ..:attribute, ..:text, ..:processing-instruction and
..:comment" as children.

The DTD says: <!ELEMENT xupdate:append (%instructions;)*>

What I found now is that Lexus allows any XML content as its children,
not just the xupdate commands. The reason why I'm posting to this list
is because I find this "deviation" from the WD very useful. Are there
any implications that I haven't seen which would prohibit the change
from %instructions; to %template; for append, and insert-*? Sticking to
the WD would complicate the code for my specific use case.
