ah, ok. I'm still a bit new on x86. And I don't want to reboot my AMD Laptop which is running as a server since over a week (and which has some hundre gedit tabs open) ... (Not in xVM mode) So with all this I still don't have much experience. To me it works well enough (in fact very well, even better than xVM itself [when I compared those two almost two weeks ago with various guest OS's]) ... well enough, that I can use the AMD-V extensions in conjunction with VirtualBox. And I'm not even sure whether I can run VirtualBox_with_AMD-V-support under a booted xVM kernel, there was a warning somewhere. So I'm not running the xVM kernel and cannot reboot right now. So I cannot try what uname() reports when, where, versus not. Therefore I cannot help with this question. Especially as the gfx chip in this laptop will be compiz-supported not before I have reached the next stage, hence I cannot run the test right now.
