XDS was a public event, it has been announced in the X.Org mailing list. The X.Org foundation even offered sponsorship opportunities for those interested to participate who couldn't afford the cost. I may miss some of the context that makes you whine about this but anyways if you're interested in X please subscribe to the events page of the X.Org wiki (http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/Events) to stay informed and don't wait for an invitation to participate. -- Matthieu Herrb
