Hi,

I managed to build xf86-video-ati-6.9.0 in my copy of the FOX gate.
Some upstreamed
patches had to be removed and I added in the patch suggested by Ken
Mays for Ati 4850
support. In addition radeon_drv calls functions in theatre_drv after
loading that module which
caused link failure due to the "-z defs" flags set by default. Had to
change that to "-z nodefs".

I can't test since I do not have a system with ATI card. So can you
try testing these drivers ?
You can download the binary tarball from:

http://www.belenix.org/binfiles/new_ati.tar.bz2

Then change directory to /usr/X11/lib/modules
Take a backup of the following files:

drivers/amd64/ati_drv.so
drivers/amd64/radeon_drv.so
multimedia/amd64/theatre_detect_drv.so
multimedia/amd64/theatre_drv.so
multimedia/amd64/theatre200_drv.so

Finally extract the tarball in the same directory. It will overwrite
these files.

Regards,
Moinak.
