Using the DDT would let you know if Sun has added that controller or provided a link to where you can get the correct driver and proper setup. You can also send a note to Masayuki Murayama (at the web reference above) as he may have a RTL8111 driver for you to try. As for the ATI Radeon HD 4850/4870 cards, I'll start working on getting them registered with Sun HCL. Try to get you 2D ATI driver state back to where you can get 1400 x 1050 and 1024x768 resolutions. Move xorg.conf into a safe area and go back to see if the Sun's Xorg Xserver will properly autodetect and configure with your monitor. You should be able to get 1024x768, 1280x768, 1280x1024, 1400x1050, and 1680 x 1050.
