The early builds of PLG ran on SPARC systems with 3D hardware that supported
texture maps.  It would not run on 3D boards like Creator3D which didn't 
have texture
support.

In later builds, support for running X applications was added but this 
required an
extension found in Xorg but not Xsun.  You can still run the developer 
version on
Xsun, but you cannot run any X applications.
