From a source perspective, the most notable change in these
builds is the integration of the first two modules from the
X.Org modular releases. Build 39 adds xproto-7.0.4, which
contains the core X protocol and shared headers, making it the
first step in replacing the still-closed portions of the
Solaris X consolidation with open-source modular tree components.
Build 40 replaced the Xorg ATI 6.5.7 video driver that is part
of the X11R6.9 release with the xf86-video-ati 6.5.8 modular
release, which was made to be compatible with the Xorg 6.9/7.0
module ABI, unlike most new driver modular releases, which only
work with the upcoming Xorg 7.1 server.

sources to opensolaris.org.
