Hi all, I have a Toshiba Tecra M1 laptop with a Trident Cyberblade XP4m32 card. The trident driver is, basically, crappy. So I'd prefer to use VESA. I have for some time successfully used VESA under Xsun. But, I'd like to move to Xorg to pick up all of the goodness therein :)
The problem I hit is that my screen turns dark red when I start up the Xorg server-- the bits are still rendered, but the colormap is badly off. In the past I've had trouble google searching for likely candidates for this problem. Tonight however, I discovered https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2150 which exactly documents the problem I'm having. Can we somehow advocate to Xorg for a fix to this bug? It would really help as we move towards a day when Xorg is the default server.
