I am sponsoring this case for Niveditha Rau, and have marked it Closed Approved Automatic as it simply delivers on Solaris the same startx script that most other X implementations have shipped with for years. Should anyone wish time to discuss, let me know, and I can convert to a fast-track. (Solaris used to provide an equivalent script that was customized for OpenWindows as /usr/openwin/bin/openwin - when OpenWindows was removed, so was that script, and we failed to deliver a replacement. This corrects that oversight.) -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering Template Version: @(#)sac_nextcase 1.66 04/17/08 SMI This information is Copyright 2008 Sun Microsystems 1. Technical Description The startx script is a front end to xinit that provides a simple command line interface for running a single session of the X Window System. It is often run with no arguments. Arguments immediately following the startx command are used to start a client in the same manner as xinit. To determine the client to run, startx first looks for a file called .xinitrc in the user's home directory. If that is not found, it uses the file xinitrc in the xinit library directory (/usr/X11/lib/X11/xinit).
