Hi Ken, ok, accepted.

That's a good goal. But I couln't instantly extract it from your original msg. Attention: The essential file is "sparcPci.c" in the "bus" subdir inside the monolithic Xorg server src tree, not Scanpci.c > Although you have ported your device drivers to Xorg Not "my" device drivers. Just my port of the existing XFree86/Xorg SPARC-Linux and SPARC-BSD drivers. > - what about Sun & Xorg certification/verification > testing (i.e. Level I/II/...)? My comments stem from > "Sun supported and approved" not just "community > supported" video device drivers. > > Users may want some insurance from 'Sun internal' > that if your video drivers go on 'mission-critical' > servers or workstations - they won't have to worry > about support calls or a 'hung' system due to > non-certified drivers. > > If this is the case, how do we fix these issues so > your work is not in vain?? > > ~ Ken Mays Very simple: Use Solaris Express and Xsun, not (any future) SPARC-Indiana and Xorg. Only huge investments could change that at the demanded level. And I doubt Sun is willing to invest many resources into EOL'ed and EOS'ed vintage hardware. Indiana is defined as sort of cutting edge playground, and that was on x86 ... Users of the vintage stuff should use Xsun or should try {Alan Coopersmith's/Moinak Ghosh's/Jay Cotton's and my} FOX on their own risk. %Martin Bochnig% /* Posted to xwin and opensolaris discuss via jive */ This message posted from opensolaris.org
