Hi everybody,
I have just a brief comment concerning this discussion.
I have write a visualizer for DEM simulations (mgpost, see google).
This tool could be incorporated 'into' Yade in the future.
It may be interesting to known that I used the 'vertical Y' convention.

Hey, you are too quick for blaming that on me. You changed the
default GL view, which (arbitrarily ;) assumes currently that
gravity is in Z
direction. And before it was in Y direction. I sort-of mitigated the
"complaint problem" due to your change by adding those XYZ buttons.
And by assuming that default view is directed depending on gravity
direction.
Oh, you're right, I suppressed remembrance of me changing that and
only
remembered that we had that discussion. Sorry for that, you're right.
My reasoning behind that was that it is computer graphics folks
that use
y for upwards (which I thought was a relict of Olivier making that
code), whereas physicists use xy for the plane and z for height. I
assumed that the latter would be what yade users will (including me)
would expect, so I changed that. But I am in no strong opposition
against reverting that.
BTW, for saving the view config, you can use alt-7, alt-8, alt-9 to
save
view state into #0, #1, #2 "slots", which are stored in the simulation
.xml, and load those by pressing 7, 8, 9 respectively.
