''Do you have friction on bottom boundary?'' the million dollar question!
In many of my simulations, it seems obvious to me that I don't. Later I thought that maybe it was because this was a transition phenomenon, that in real time in the simulation, only a fraction of a second had passed by, but I rather doubt that. I tried to solve this problem by specifying a material for the spheres and the facets, hence my questions about internal friction angles, but when I tried that, it didn't seem to work. I am assuming that once you specify the materials involved, and gravity, and the motion of the cylinder, everything else takes care of it's self. the other thing to consider is that there are at least two models of frictional interaction that can be used, one uses poisson and young ang internal friction, while the other uses other stuf. I have not looked in detail into the differences between these yet. --- On Thu, 7/8/10, Bruno Chareyre <[email protected]> wrote: From: Bruno Chareyre <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Yade-users] hello? -help with a spinning bucket! You tried pressing F10 during a simulation yes? Of course you can't see the result faster than it is actually computed, but you can always reduce the number of particles. I am including several videos this time. I assume it is fairly obvious that there are things that are not right, given my previous description of what should in fact be happening. It seems the discretization of the cylinder is too coarse, resulting in permanent impacts between spheres and facets. Do you have friction on bottom boundary? It seems the bucket rotation is very fast compared to particles motion.
