Well John, you made my day... You had me cracking up!!!! Anyway, I totally agree with you in the way the search function sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. Here's my opinion... and as you know by know I have an opinion of everything. lmao
A few things to keep in mind. Yahoo no longer supports any older versions before 6.0. You have to remember that yahoo has many thousands of servers out there, including the "member search" server. If you are using older versions (prior to 6.0), then you also may be accessing an older search page, which is no longer working correctly, or is just messed up because they are not updating it anymore. Keep in mind that after 6.0 came out, Yahoo changed their profile page, and again when the version 360 came out the profile page changed once again. Yahoo also removed all the CAP names, which at one time were rare, or called illegal, because you couldn't make any name that had a capital letter. However if you go to an OLD server you can view the profiles how they used to look. The reason I'm saying all this is so that you make sure that you are actually using the correct "member server" when doing your search, and not using the one that was attached to messy 5.5 or 5.6, etc. Does that make sense??? Now I just went and did a search and searched for males over 50 who live in boston. First person on the list was a woman from Belgium. However when I refined my search to say ''boston, ma" then I got exactly what I was looking for. So here is another guess. I'm wondering if when yahoo does a member search, that it is literally searching thru all the alias on an account, as well as someone's main account. Let's say you wanted to make a hider name, and I made up a bunch of data, like I was a man, and that I was 50 from boston. Would the yahoo member search give you my MAIN account information just because one of my alias fit that criteria??? Yahoo is free and by no means free of errors. Actually there was a 24 hour period there where when you clicked on someone's profile instead of getting their chat name, you got their MAIN ACCOUNT ID instead. I wish I had better answers for you john, but these are just my idea's, experiences, and guesses. --- In [email protected], "John" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Messenger 5,6,0,1358 > Module 5,6,0,503 > > At one time, and in previous versions, when in the main Messenger > window one could click on Tools/Manage Friend List/Search for a > Friend...
