Lenny, I think that some of the problem is only allowing certain aspects of messenger thru. Everytime you log in and out of messenger it goes and checks for updates. My suggestion is to rename the yupdater so that it stops doing this.
If you have the new messenger, with all the bells and whistles, there are various things that must close out when you're closing a PM. I think for the most part, your system is ok, but as we all know, sometimes when you're locked up TOO tight, it takes longer for the communication back and forth from your computer to yahoo because it has to go thru other programs for permission first. Hope this makes sense. I mean I wouldn't change anything, but if I got too aggrivated with it, I'd go back to an older version of messenger. But it's totally up to you.
