This group is still moderated. There are several moderators in addition to the owner of the group. There is a way that a message can be sent to each member when they apply to join the group. I think if should be set up so that new members get the message that this is a help group and not just some place to meet people for casual chat. I don't think that they realize when they send a personal message in response to a message that it is being sent to around 2000 people.
