It is probably NOT a case of fraud or a hacked account. You or your friend needs to look at the email "header" information to see if that email is actually from you or if it is a "spoof", where some spammers will make an email "appear" to be from one email address when it is actually from a completely different source. Sites like MySpace, Yahoogroups, etc., all do this with legitimate messages but spammers also do it with spam.
Do not send those e-cards from sites that are not reputable. They end up with two new GOOD email addresses to add to their spam list that they may just use for themselves or may sell the list to others.
