Hmmmmm.. that's a good question.  Why do you need to do this with your
Registry?  You can turn Archiving on or off using YM preferences.  

You can also hide, delete or move all of your old archived chats by browsing
to the folder that holds them and altering the folder name/location.  Maybe
this would also help you to find the appropriate Registry key as well.

I did open my RegEdit and here is where I found my archive file folder:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Yahoo/pager/profiles/(Yahoo ID)/Archive/(14 keys)
(One of the keys is named "Enabled" and is set to (1) so that may be the key
you are looking for.)
