Which anti-spyware did you buy? Are you now running it full-time in the
background? If so, try disabling it to see if that allows you to use voice
feature. It sounds more like a firewall issue though where your firewall is
blocking the port for the voice feature.

For anyone else reading this, to prevent getting spyware/malware, you should
keep your Windows Operating System up to date using Microsoft Update website
at http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us (or
have your computer set to automatically do the updates) and you should also
be running a good firewall (I use Sunbelt-Kerio's personal firewall for
$14.95) and also running a good anti-virus (I use AVG's FREE anti-virus) and
anti-spyware (I use Windows Defender, FREE from Microsoft). I have used
many other firewalls, anti-viruses and anti-spyware over the years but these
three work well together running full-time in the background on my computers
(WindowsXP Home & Pro versions). Some of the "suites" like those from
McAfee and Norton are big-time resource hogs and really slow down most
computers. Some of the other anti-spywares, anti-viruses and firewalls also
suffer from being resource hogs. Always check out a product before using or
buying it since there are many FAKE products that are bigger spyware bugs
than what you are trying to get rid of.

1. Problems with voice

Hi,
I have been having a lot of problems with the voice feature on messenger and
I'm hoping maybe someone has delt with something simular. My wife uses the
voice feature to chat with her over-seas relatives. We had been using the
feature on and off for over a year without much trouble till recently. Just
before the holidays I ended up picking up a really nasty spyware program
while on myspace. To get rid of the spyware program I ended up purchasing
anti-spyware software. I think the spyware software maybe causing my
problems with messenger. We can usually chat, and use the webcam just fine
but now we always have problems with the voice feature. This morning it
worked long enough for me to hear someone say hello, but we couldn't get it
going from that point on. My wifes overseas relatives have been able to use
voice when speaking with other relative in the US so I am pretty sure the
problem is on my end. My computer is still pretty new (about 2 years) and
has been used for this before, and I have a high speed cable connection so I
really don't think performance is the issue. Could really use some advice at
this point. I'm considering wiring in my laptop this weekend to see whether
or not I can eliminate the computer as the problem. I have a wireless router
but it only gets about half the connection speed on wireless compared to
what the PC will get directly tied to the router.
