If that is only happening to you on one computer, I would suspect the cam
driver is not installed in the right place for YM. I know this happened to
me once and I had to use the cam's tech support to move copies of the
drivers into the right directory path. It was quite a while back so I can't
recall off of the top of my head. Go to your webcam's manufacture site and
look for forums or free tech support there.

If you have YM v.8... here is their webcam page of help topics but I don't
think it's YM... unless you have a bad download... which could also be the
problem. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger8/webcam/

Here is another topic that might solve your issue using a registry edit.

REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY AND YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE DOING REGISTRY
CHANGES IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THEM. They are not difficult
as long as you follow the directions. If you get confused at any point, do
NOT click the apply or OK buttons. Just cancel out and come back out here
for more help.

If you have a different YM version, let us know.

Subject: [Y!M] Webcam

I have a long-lasting problem with my webcam and Yahoo IM.

although the camera(s) work(s) on other IM programs, YIM fails to recognize
it (the camera selection area on the "Preferences" list is "greyed out"). I
notice I have the same effect on my laptop, but a camera DOES work there. On
here (my PC) any attempt to activate the webcam, "freezes" YIM and the
cursor meaning I have to hit the n"reset" button to get the PC back. I have
this same result with three different cameras and when using YIM back as far
as v5 (which I have tried).

Any hints, suggestions or whatever.
