What country are you in? A few years ago, in response to legislation passed in the USA, the UK and other countries, Yahoo shut down open access to profiles that some people may have inadvertently listed as adults only... some that didn't even have adult content but the people clicked on a box to make their profiles adults only and then even some of their friends couldn't see their profiles.
One way to get around this is to change your account info to show yourself in a country that does not have these restrictions... for example, I show myself in Australia which does not limit access to adult profiles by other adults. In YM, click on Messenger Menu, then "My Account Info". This will open a browser window. In the middle section called "Member Information", you will see an "Edit" link in the top right of that section. Click on "Edit" to change your settings. I have mine set for the time zone as US-Central, which is where I really live, but for the "Preferred Content", I show myself as English-Australia. Then save your settings and you should be able to get into adult profiles. You should also make sure that your DOB is correct while you are in there. Your DOB in "My Account Info" has nothing to do with what is in your profile so you can still fudge on your age... not that I would do that. LOL You may have to close your browser and clear out your Yahoo related cookies to get these new settings to work. I clear out my cookies on a regular basis so I'm not sure if this was necessary or not back then. This worked for me a couple of years ago but if it doesn't work, let me know and I'll do some Googling to find an updated answer.
