I have Windows XP with IE7, fully updated and secured computer (firewall, AV, Anti-Spyware, etc.).... but I do have YM version 7.5.x and so far I haven't had any real problems getting into chat rooms... well no more than when Yahoo Servers are acting up just like before they made the recent changes.
I've done photo sharing which works most of the time except for when someone is having issues with their own computer or YM. It's probably people having insecure computers and they are hacked or have viruses or on the other end of the spectrum, they have installed various security measures but do not know how to properly set them up the firewalls, etc., are blocking certain ports or blocking certain parts of YM from getting out an open port. I have seen an increase in IM's from people not on my friends list which seem to be a mix between bots and scammers. I've been doing lots of "Report As Spam" in the past two weeks. Besides this YM group which is a specialty group for issues related to YM, there are several Yahoo Groups dealing with helping people with their computer issues. You should try to get people who are having issues to join one or all of these groups... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/computer_help_and_discussion http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinXPHelp http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinTips-Tricks Or if they prefer regular forums, I use CastleCops.com forums for more advanced security issues and/or help with setting or working out a glitch with a new security program. http://www.castlecops.com/forums.html And of course, most security related programs have their own specialty forums. Some have said they are full, but then later I can get in them. Nobody is chatting in the rooms any more anyway! I am still having the problem of not being able to share photos thru photo share tho. Is anyone else still having that problem? --- In [email protected] <mailto:Yahoo_Messenger%40yahoogroups.com> , kathy kendall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi group, > I just tried (yet again with no sucess) to check into a yahoo chat room. I keep getting the message "room is full". According to the list EVERY room is full and they are all webcams. Have we been invaded by bots once again? Sometimes , (and i use that term loosly,) you can get into a room and all you hear is music, You cannot see anyones typing, nor can you converse with the other folks in the room. Whats going on in chat these days? Does anyone know anything about this? You all have a good weekend, stay safe. > Kathy > No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
