thank you very much for your time and support in helping me resolve 
this problem. I really appreciate all your efforts. I e-mailed the 
ALWIL Software Team (the makers of Avast!; even them, they don't 
know how get rid of the virus/malware/spyware. I have tried all your 
suggestions but to no avail. I might resort to reformatting my 
laptop tomorrow when i wake up. Once again, thank you for all your 
support LNVTM1, Steven Jones and YooperA.
