Normally, preferences such as those kind would be saved in the cookie but I
just fooled around in the group under a couple of different Yahoo ID's and
they all went into the group with the same view's and even after I changed
things around to simplify or expanded, etc., when I went back they were back
to the default.

I never really work much on the groups message pages or anywhere else on the
groups pages except for the groups that I own or moderate where I'll
occasionally check on pending members or bouncing members.

I pretty much do everything else via email where I set my own preferences to
plain text and either individual or daily digest type preferences and those
have stayed consistent so it must just be something yahoo is doing with the
pages as a default... maybe for faster loading and less server work.

It seems that a lot of websites are going to a new type of coding/formatting
to save server time. At least Yahoo isn't logging us out every five
minutes. I have two websites I deal with a lot for business and they
time-out after five minutes so I'm constantly having to re-login after I
answer a phone call or email. Now, that's a PITA! (pain in the ___)

Yes, but if you change to list as individual and the same with simplify or
expand, it changes back as soon as you click out of it.
