Do you have Vista or XP or some other operating system?

DO NOT use the Yahoo website but instead, download a FULL version of YM from
http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/ or from another safe 3rd
party download site.

If XP, just click on the .exe file and it will go through the installation
process. Of course, I always recommend a custom install over the default
install and then I uncheck any toolbars or other crap that so many free
programs come with nowadays.

If Vista, once you have downloaded the FULL version, right click on the .exe
file and choose Properties and then choose Run as Administrator and then go
through the same instructions for XP above.

NEVER turn off your firewall or other security software when you are online
unless you are absolutely 100% certain that the website you are visiting is
secure and that your internet connection, router, etc. are all safe and
secure. The only time I do disable my firewall is when I am installing a
BIG program or other security program that I know will need unhindered
access to all of my computer but I only run these types of installations
when I am NOT online.
