[Y!M] messenger download

i just got a new lap top and iam trying to down load the new verion
of messenger but it keeps stoping and telling me it could not down load
the files needed and to check my fire wall settings and try again.
i have turned off the fire wall and also added it to my accepted sites still 
with no luck
can any one help me out?
