Earlier too in our offline discussion i had preferred for opting modification
of the existing methods rather than adding a new interface if it suffices for
all the callers.
[~sunilg],
I think its fine to modify the existing interface which is done in 2nd patch
rather than having a workaround, whats your opinion ?
If no issues i plan to go ahead and commit the 2nd patch.
