Yes I will update the domain row key documentation, good catch!
bq. The DomainTable is missing writers as one of its columns. Also, let's add a
link of TimelineDomain documentation (possibly the apache official doc where it
is introduced).
We can have more columns that may not be listed. It is not necessary to define
all columns though. But I will add it.

bq. I recall that we want to do compression on the domain table. Is that
something done at table creation time?
Very good point. I have not added in compression as part of the table creation.
I was thinking we might want to mention it in the documentation and point to
hbase docs regarding enabling it. The reason is that, no matter what codec we
use, we would need the admins to make sure to test that it is installed
correctly and is available on all nodes in the cluster. Extra operational steps
may be necessary to be sure that codecs are available on newly-deployed nodes.
Hence did not want to add it in the basic table creation / installation
process. HBase does not ship with Snappy or LZO due to licensing issues. LZ4
comes with hadoop but has to made available on all nodes.
Will upload a new patch shortly.
