Gera Shegalov commented on YARN-1701:
-------------------------------------

HADOOP_LOG_DIR is customarily used across all the hadoop daemons. Are you
suggesting to users to change it just because of AHS? I think if you want to
insist on using {noformat}${hadoop.log.dir}${noformat} with the current code,
you should prefix it with file:// as in
{noformat}file://${hadoop.log.dir}/yarn/system/ahstore{noformat} in order for
it to make sense. I would be more comfortable with a *default* location that
makes sense for *default* DFS case and does not include any fs scheme.

> When I enable AHS via yarn.ahs.enabled, the app history is still not visible
> in AHS webUI. This is due to NullApplicationHistoryStore as
> yarn.resourcemanager.history-writer.class. It would be good to have just one
> key to enable basic functionality.
> yarn.ahs.fs-history-store.uri uses {code}${hadoop.log.dir}{code}, which is
> local file system location. However, FileSystemApplicationHistoryStore uses
> DFS by default.
